Before I became a mother, nights out with my partner or my girlfriends were just a way to de-stress after a long week at work. Now that I have three kids running around, one still in diapers, date nights have become marriage saving. While my husband and I did separate for a short time, reconnecting (along with lots of work and therapy) has been so important to putting our marriage back together again.
It’s easy to allow yourself to get so caught up in motherhood that you forget to date your husband. Dr. Jamie Williamson even wrote in a Huffington Post article that, “There is a well-documented connection between the support that comes from a well-functioning intimate relationship and the personal well-being of the relationship partners.”
One of the easiest ways for me to feel less like my everyday-yoga-pants-wearing-spit-up-covered mom self is to dress it up a little, even if my ever frugal self is wearing the same dress out for every date night. My favorite dresses are classy, elegant, and completely figure flattering.
